Here is a picture of Amigo and me hanging out in our kitchen. Amigo is a dog. Amigo is our amigo. Amigo sometimes thinks he is a lap dog. I sometimes think Amigo is a human. I can't wait for Bear to be born...can you tell?

Nicole's 30th Birthday!

For my 30th Birthday, Horacio took me on an amazing date night. We got all dressed up (thanks Megan for lending me a maternity dress I actually looked good in). Horacio made reservations at a really amazing restaurant called The Oceanaire. From the beginning, we were greeted with amazing service and they even printed "Happy 30th Birthday" on our menus. All their fish is flown in fresh that day... so we had a lot of great choices! And then for dessert they gave me a Flaming Alaska. Have you seen one of these? It is amazing! It is a chocolate cake with tower of ice cream, covered in meringue and then set on fire with a waterfall of flames! So cool, and so, so yummy!!

After dinner Horacio took me to see the musical Chicago. We had great seats and the musical was amazing. They did such a good job at telling the story with a limited stage, costume's and very few props.

I had an absolutely wonderful time! It was a very memorable birthday!

Las Mananitas

On my birthday Horacio woke me up at 5:45am with the song Las Mananitas. This is a typical way to celebrate someones birthday in the Mexican culture. Usually you would hire a Mariachi to come to your house early in the morning and wake up the person (and the neighborhood) with a live version of the song. Mariachis are a bit expensive in Denver, so YouTube was a good substitute! Plus I enjoyed listening to it in the comfort of my own bed!

He also woke me up that early to take me to my favorite place for breakfast, Kyles Kitchen. I love going out for breakfast, and will wake up at any ungodly hour just to go! But this morning God made it a little more special. It was beautiful out side.

Later that night I celebrated with 6 of my close girlfriends by going to dinner and a movie. I have been so blessed with a great group of friends, and rarely get a chance to just hang out with all girls. And since Horacio had class that night, I had a good excuse! Thank you ladies... I had a wonderful time with you!

All in all I had a great 3oth birthday!!

Belly Picture

After many, many requests, we have finally taken our first Belly picture! Early on in the pregnancy, I would laugh at the idea of measuring or taking pictures of my belly every month. Why would I want to take a picture of my belly when it wasn't the baby sticking out, just my flabby abs? But now I understand. Those flabby abs weren't all that big back then. Now at six months, I wish I could compare side by side my pre-baby belly and the basketball belly I have now.

Yesterday, I was doing a prenatal Pilates video and Horacio saw the instructor and said "WOW, she is huge. Are you going to get like that?" Its hard for both of us to imagine what the next few months hold for my ever expanding belly. But as it gets harder for me to bend over and tie my shoes even, I am starting to imagine myself doing the prego wobble!

I also realized last night that it will soon be a challenge for me to even reach into a lower kitchen cabinet to get out a pot. So Horacio was a good husband and called our cabinet guy to come out on an emergency to install a pull out shelf for me. That way my belly won't get in the way of my ability to cook (maybe I should have kept it the way it is for an excuse not to cook!).

Bear's Cameo

Here is the little guy's first video appearance! Watch him wipe his nose at one point! Does that mean he will have allergies like his mom? We hope not! Maybe he was just a little under the weather like Nicole was when this was filmed. Also watch at the end when a dark spot appears on his chest and starts beating. That is his heart, pretty amazing!!

Diego Bear Morales

Most people wonder why we are naming our boy Bear. Horacio has always wanted to name his son Bear because he believes that Bear is a solid name and that our child will live up to this strong name with impervious values. Bear will be the friend that will never let you down; integrity, honesty, and strong values will be some of the words that will describe Bear. And of course, Horacio has some wild ideas, but I am warming up to this one and think that our boy will fill these big paws.

And while I am warming up to the name Bear, I don’t think that it’s a good first name. So we are thinking about the name Diego as a first name (thanks to a friend of a friend's suggestion) and Bear will be his middle name. Diego Bear Morales. We are not 100% positive about the name Diego, but we really like the name and think it would be a good addition to Bear Morales.

It's a Bear...I mean Boy!

Horacio and I had our 20 week ultrasound today. Before we went, Horacio kept saying he thought we were going to have a girl because he wouldn't know what to do with a baby girl (on his side of the family we have 8 nephews and only 2 new neices). I thought we would end up having a boy just because the Morales side of the family has so many boys. And here he is! We are really excited! Everything on the ultrasound seemed to be healthy and developing well. We were amazed at the images we were able get; technology is amazing.

We love that we even got a video of him moving around. In the above photo, you can see his tiny little feet.
